My first trip to Romania was an experience that will live in my memory for a very long time. The impact that it had has changed my thinking and heart. Originally from South Africa and then going to Romania seemed almost like going home.
The hunger for God and the people’s commitment to give out of their nothingness was something we in the UK have lost. Give some of their land to God so a church could be built, giving a meal from their basic hand grown produce, not wanting to partake with us but watching while we ate so that we would not go without. This is what impacted me, this was humbling!
We do not realise how privileged we are and how much we take for granted. The children at the orphanage made a huge impression on me. They were children from various backgrounds working, playing and caring for one another, children with open hearts wanting to go places, having purpose and vision, wanting to achieve and to do well. We can learn so much from people with so little.
With all our muchness we have ignored the One who has created us and given us life and the air we breathe. We are ignoring the one who will one day make judgement as we give account of how we have lived.
Those in Romania, with there lack of possessions, are accomplishing great things for the one who is centre of their lives, He who has given them life abundantly. I challenge you all to take the trip and ask the father to open your heart for the work He wants to do. It will challenge and change your life. Mike Moore,
