And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb. “Great and marvellous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the Ages. Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name?
For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” Revelation 15:2-4
The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast. They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings – and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers. Revelation 17:12-14
Did you watch the programmes on the royal family? I did and I found the more I saw of them the more I understood them, actually I found the Queen especially endearing. She reigns from Buckingham Palace and we don’t really know what she does, how she fills her days or how she thinks, but spending time with her on the programmes allowed us to get closer to her.
Jesus however has told us how he reigns in Scripture, and if we spend more time with him we will come to understand better how he works, how he thinks, how he reigns.
I know many of you reading this won’t share my love for the monarchy, however, she is the Queen and there is nothing we can do about that. Unless, you actively work to bring the monarchy down. But isn’t that the opposite of what God tells us to do? He tells us to pray for those in authority. Why do you think he says that? Because He is in authority and if we can not accept the authority around us, how can we accept his authority? It is all about submission!
I had a great conversation with a mechanic last week who was adamant that there is no God. He told me how he loved to argue with the Jehovah’s Witnesses when they knock at his door. For over 45 minutes in the office of the garage he scorned and ridiculed with me, all in good fun of course, but then he had to do an MOT on the charity van. After a few minutes he called me over saying he needed my help. When I got there in the corner of the workshop and out of ear of his colleagues he began to ask some very pertinent and direct questions about Jesus and the crucifixion. I had a wonderful opportunity to share the gospel with him and why God had the need to send Jesus.
Although I have learned a little more about the Queen I actually still know very little about her. So how am I able to make a judgement on her?
You know, there are millions of people who know nothing about God but, because they know better than God or any other person on earth, have already made up their mind about him, if that applies to you, my advise is, that with an open heart and mind, you find out more about him first, then make your mind up.
Then the angel said to me. “Write. Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added “These are the true words of God.” On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:9,16.
Lord God Almighty, I humbly come before you now to give you praise and thanks. I worship you and bow down to your authority. I submit to you my King, my Lord, my Saviour. I am your servant and eagerly await your command. Help me by the power of your Holy Spirit to go out to share the gospel of Jesus, and make disciples of all nations, the nations you alone rule over. Forgive me, your created, for trying to tell you how things should be. Fill me with your Holy Spirit until I overflow, continue to fill me so I continue to overflow. Send me out in your power and under your anointing. Help me to know and sense your presence at all times. Help me to bring glory to the amazing name of Jesus. Amen.
